Work Anniversary: Shane Lawlor

Here at Gouldson Legal we are proud to employ a team of experts, who really care about the outcomes of our clients – from our dedicated administration staff all the way through to our senior legal team.

We think that workplace culture plays a very important role in the overall success of our firm and the experience of our clients – team members who enjoy coming to work and like where they work are always going to go above and beyond. That is why we put such strong emphasis on who we hire and how they fit into our team – they have to care about the work they do and the experience of their clients as much as the rest of us do!

We’re proud of the team that we have built and that fact that we all actually like coming to work, we’re also proud that so many of our team stick around for the long-haul!

For example, our Associate Shane Lawlor has been with our firm for 5 years today (25th of March 2018)! So we decided to see why he has stuck around and what he is looking forward to in the future.

Catching up with Shane to reflect on his 5 years at Gouldson Legal

Gouldson Legal | Shane Lawlor

How is Gouldson Legal different to other places you’ve worked at?
Gouldson Legal is a great place to work, we have a broad workload with a strong client base. I started with Gouldson toward the end of my university days and quickly moved into a legal role. The level of attention and commitment to my ongoing development at Gouldson is outstanding. I’ve continually been supported in my career advancement and couldn’t be happier with my current role.

How would you describe the culture at Gouldson Legal in 5 words?
Engaged and progressive team environment.

What is your favourite thing about your role at Gouldson Legal?
My role allows me to make a change to the circumstances of my clients. No one wants to be in a position where they’re having to deal with a personal injuries lawyer. Most times, I have a client reluctantly engaging a lawyer because there has been significant upheaval in their life caused by injuries that they’ve sustained through no fault of their own. They are down on their luck and worried about their future. My role enables me to give my clients comfort and confidence that the matters external to them, concentrating on their health and rehabilitation are taken care of. Our work necessarily involves making a comparison between what our client’s lives were like and the downturn that’s been caused by their injuries. Seeking to have a client adequately compensated for that change in order to give them financial options moving forward is really rewarding for me.

How do you think the firm, and your role, will change in the coming year?
There are some exciting times ahead! Moving to a new office space later in 2018 is definitely something that we’re all looking forward to and we also have some new team members coming on board soon, so it’ll be great to meet new people who I’m sure will make great contributions to our team dynamic.

Most importantly, where are you planning your next holiday?!
My partner, Katherine and I recently got engaged, in addition to buying our first home! We also only came back from Hawaii about 2 weeks ago, so we’ll need a bit of a break to recuperate and start planning our next trip. We’re thinking about a honeymoon to the New Zealand ski fields next year, so stay tuned!

A big thank-you to Shane for catching up with us to answer these questions! If you would like to know more about our team, you can check us all out here.
