We think that workplace culture plays a very important role in the overall success of our firm and the experience of our clients – team members who enjoy coming to work and like where they work are always going to go above and beyond. That is why we put such strong emphasis on who we hire and how they fit into our team – they have to care about the work they do and the experience of their clients as much as the rest of us do!
We’re proud of the team that we have built and that fact that we all actually like coming to work, we’re also proud that so many of our team stick around for the long-haul!
For example, our Senior Associate Carl Hughes has been with our firm for 5 years today (25th of March 2018)! So we decided to see why he has stuck around and what he is looking forward to in the future.
Catching up with Carl to reflect on his 5 years at Gouldson Legal
How is Gouldson Legal different to other places you’ve worked at?
Gouldson is different to other Personal injury firms for a few reasons – the ethos behind the firm is that we don’t represent cases we represent people – which is central to the down-to-earth, no-nonsense approach the firm takes to things.
The firm isn’t just passionate about getting a result, but passionate about getting the best result for the client. That not only means pushing insurers as hard as possible, but also keeping clients informed and aware of the direction the claim is going. This makes for a happy client at the end of the day.
How would you describe the culture at Gouldson Legal in 5 words?
Genuine. Focused. Progressive. Supportive. Real.
What is your favourite thing about your role at Gouldson Legal?
There are a few things – knowing that I’ve been able to assist an individual (and their family) during an often very difficult time in their life to achieve a result that makes a bad situation just that much easier, is the greatest satisfaction.
I’m also enjoying being involved in and mentoring other lawyers with the claims that they are running. This is equally satisfying and not to mention keeps me on my toes!
How do you think the firm, and your role, will change in the coming year?
The firm over the last few years has gone from strength to strength. A large part of that is through our marketing and branding. Driving around town seeing our billboards, or having friends mention our firm from recognising the brand makes me proud to be part of a firm that is, in its own way, going places.
Over the next year and beyond, I’m expecting that our continued growth will involve more staff, and more clients as our individual teams expand.
Most importantly, where are you planning your next holiday?!
One of my passions – overseas travel!
My next trip is to Europe mid-year. There’s nothing better than a European summer! I’m going to a few destinations I’ve been to before – but I’m particularly looking forward to going to Malta, in the middle of the Mediterranean. Can’t wait!
