We think that workplace culture plays a very important role in the overall success of our firm and the experience of our clients – team members who enjoy coming to work and like where they work are always going to go above and beyond. That is why we put such strong emphasis on who we hire and how they fit into our team – they have to care about the work they do and the experience of their clients as much as the rest of us do!
We’re proud of the team that we have built and that fact that we all actually like coming to work, we’re also proud that so many of our team stick around for the long-haul!
For example, our Legal Assistant, Alicia Walker has been with our firm a year today (13th of June 2018)! So we decided to see why she has stuck around and what she is looking forward to in the future.
Catching up with Alicia to reflect on her year at Gouldson Legal
How is Gouldson Legal different to other places you’ve worked at?
Gouldson Legal is a lot smaller than past firms I have worked at. Being a smaller firm you definitely aren’t just “another number” like you are in some of those bigger firms. You feel like you are a crucial part of the team, which is really nice!
Gouldson Legal, Faran and the entire team make you feel appreciated and we all enjoy each other’s company which makes coming to work and doing what we do so much more enjoyable!
How would you describe the culture at Gouldson Legal in 5 words?
Friendly. Genuine. Focused. Productive. Honest.
What is your favourite thing about your role at Gouldson Legal?
My favourite thing about my role here at Gouldson Legal is the way my work helps clients. I enjoy that I can use my experience to support my team to get the best possible result for our clients! I love that the experience I have and what I bring to the table is valued within my direct team and the wider team of Gouldson Legal. I also love that I am given the opportunity to get stuck in to the really senior tasks and assist the Lawyers in running their files!
How do you think the firm, and your role, will change in the coming year?
With the firm moving to a new office in the second half of this year I think that will be a big change of scenery for us and will see us continue to strive in several directions. I hope that within my role I can continue to increase my knowledge and experience to enable me to continue pushing files to settlement and getting great results for our client’s.
Most importantly, where are you planning your next holiday?!
My husband and I have just come back from Fiji where we went with my extended family which was just amazing! Immediately after we got back, my Husband’s extended family started talking about going to Fiji with us. So looks like our next trip will be back to Fiji to enjoy sunshine, cocktails and the amazing culture and people early next year!
