We think that workplace culture plays a very important role in the overall success of our firm and the experience of our clients – team members who enjoy coming to work and like where they work are always going to go above and beyond. That is why we put such strong emphasis on who we hire and how they fit into our team – they have to care about the work they do and the experience of their clients as much as the rest of us do!
We’re proud of the team that we have built and that fact that we all actually like coming to work, we’re also proud that so many of our team stick around for the long-haul!
For example, our Lawyer’s Assistant, Jane Abbott has been with our firm for 3 years today (2nd of June 2017)! So we decided to see why she has stuck around and what she is looking forward to in the future.
Catching up with Jane to reflect on her 3 years at Gouldson Legal
What is your favourite thing about working at Gouldson Legal?
The people of course!!!
Gouldson has a fantastic team and it’s easy to come to work every day when you enjoy the work as well as the people. I think we all know the feeling of working with people you don’t like… *Yuck*
The culture we have at Gouldson is fantastic. I love that we get to let our hair down from time to time and bond as a team in a non-work-related environment.
What was the firm like when you started?
Well I had only just turned 20 when I began working at Gouldson Legal and I worked on reception. I think the firm felt very different when I started, mainly because of my role.
Although the firm felt quieter in 2014, I remember getting a sense that there’re was room for growth and I felt quite excited because I could see the future that the company had, and the opportunities it would provide for me.
How has the firm changed in your time here?
The firm has changed a huge deal since I started. I guess a lot of how you see the firm change is how your role changes. I now work in a team as a legal assistant and I have seen the firm grow and expand in every way. The firm feels more alive and vibrant to me than what it did back when I started.
On the other side of the coin, I think one thing that has always remained the same is Gouldson’s knack of beating the stereotype. People in my life are always so surprised by the things I share about Gouldson, whether it be having dogs in the office, fun team meetings, birthday hats or wild out-of-office functions.
Keeping the small law firm vibe but with big ambition makes us who we are!
What are you looking forward to in your coming year with Gouldson Legal?
There is never a dull moment at Gouldson Legal so I’m motivated every day by the opportunities and challenges that pop up.
I’m also eager to kick some personal goals and commence some study of some kind. The firm is always encouraging of people moving upwards and I’m keen to see where it all takes me!
How do you spend your time away from the office?
I love spending time with my family and friends. I love the outdoors; sneaking in short holidays when I can, spending my hard-earned money… haha and relaxing in my down time.
Anything that puts a smile on my face.
