If you’re new around these parts, you might be surprised to learn we’re people-focused lawyers. People; our clients, are front of mind in everything we do.
To live out this mission in the everyday, we also make our own people front of mind. We created a workplace that provides work-life balance to help our team remain engaged, connected, and refreshed personally, so they can best serve our clients professionally.
And, we’re all pretty excited today.
We just popped our finest Australian sparkling grape juice and threw coloured streamers through the corridors in celebration of the grandest announcement –
- All Gouldson Legal employees now get their birthday off. A reward for all the hard work and energy that goes into our business – recognition that a happy home life means a happy work life.
So, while we’re all happily celebrating over a sweet vanilla sponge, we thought we’d share a few of our favourite tips to help you improve your work/life balance.
3 simple ways to maintain work-life balance
1. Lunchtime walks
It’s important to get out of the office, inhale fresh air, and spend a moment absorbing Vitamin D from the sun. A short daily walk around the block will help energise you for the afternoon, and do wonders for your physical and mental health.
Technology is cool and has made life more convenient for us, but, it’s ease of use has a down-side, too. With email, network access, and social media connected to our hands by way of smartphone, it can feel difficult to disconnect from work when you’re at home. Make a commitment to digitally unplug for at least an hour every evening and enjoy the mental freedom.
Flexible work options aren’t just for parents or transitioning retirees! If your workplace offers flexible work as one of your perks, it might be an idea to explore options with your boss. Whether that’s later start / later finish days, RDOs, work-from-home, birthdays off, or if you’re really lucky, early Friday knock-offs. The point is, with so many more options available to use these days, it’s no longer necessary to be chained to your desk.
